A little bird told me...
Now, where was I? Oh yeah...
Nature covers all Her bases
The lives she gives are so austere
A Creature's only chance for survival is
The rules to which they must adhere
I think birds have life the hardest
Their only shelter's a rock or tree
Snow and wind and rain and ice
Only fragile wings to set them free
But whether bright with colour, drab with dirt
In rural forest or city street
Don't ever underestimate
The sharp clawed toes upon their feet
They embody tangible emotions
Without logic or rationale
And never question their existence
As either fulfilling or banal
Some change their partners, change their minds
A new liason every season
In an all-consuming courtship
Purely instinct without reason
Or in Faithfulness and Fortitude
Like a swan will mate for life
The royal and regal Albatross
Who will only ever take one wife
It's hard to find respect, just ask
The sharp eyed eagle on his crag
While contempt is all that ever greets
A dirty seagull or a shag
I don't think I want to be a bird
Cold and lonely in the night
There's not enough compensation
In the mere facility of flight.
