A Song of Swans
Now, where was I? Oh yeah...
The Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.
Isn't that just utter, fucking CRAP?
In our lives, people come and people go. Some stay longer than you might wish; others are not there long enough. Some are friends that you spend time with and gradually drift apart, others become a part of your life, integral your existence, who you are and what you need and help focus you on where you want to go. Some stay a day, some a year, some a lifetime. Some you are pleased to see the back of them, others break your heart and take some of the shattered pieces with them.
How do you rebuild something from pieces of rubble? What can you construct anyway? A bungalow from what's left of a mansion? A dog kennel from a garage? A rabbit hutch from a garden shed? What if there are no pieces left big enough to cobble together even a mediocre mouse house?
As it dies, the swan, epitome of faithfulness, loyalty and fidelity is said to sing it's final, hauntingly beautiful song, it's own pronouncement of farewell to it's mate.
Did you think my love would just melt away
And become the past, like yesterday?
A heart which beats with a love that's true
Will not so soon get over you.
Is coincidence defined as merely freak
When it offers all that you would seek?
Or does it simply waste a day
Of your journey to Heaven, one step on your way?
Can a Soul Mate be squandered, dismissed at whim
When a new one makes the first seem dim?
Can the pathway continue on this footing new
When pain is the reward for loving you?
When you find the last piece of the puzzle that fits
And place it with all those other bits
Are they all in order, is the puzzle done
Or do you find that you're still missing some?
RIP Mr Sez 6/9/03 - 20/2/04
